HaPpY bIRthDaY, pArkEr!!

Can it be true? Is my baby really 3 years old? It seems like yesterday I was still pregnant with him!

Jan 5th, 2006, I woke up with contractions. Granted, they were very sporadic. Regardless, I called my doctor to let him know. I was told that if they were 10 minutes apart, to go ahead and go to the hospital. Ben and I cleaned the house and got my bag ready. Around 10am, we headed to the hospital, only to be told that I wasn't in labor and that I needed to go back home. I walked and walked and walked the remainder of the day: at Target, at the mall. Contractions were between 7 and 5 minutes apart all day. That evening, they started to become closer together, about every 4 minutes and they were gettting more painful. I tried to go to sleep, but kept waking up every 2-3 minutes for a contraction that would last about 1 minute. Around 3am I couldn't take it any more. I was exhausted. We loaded up the car again and drove to the hospital...only to be told once again that I wasn't in labor because I wasn't dilating. Hello--I was having contractions every 2-3 minutes! Oh well! Anyway, we stayed at the hospital until 7am, I wasn't dilating, so I wasn't in labor, so they sent me home...with a sleeping pill. Fortunatly, I had a Dr.'s appointment scheduled for 8am. I skipped the sleeping pill and went to the the appointment. There, I was told that my water was about ready to break and the midwife sent me to a different hospital where they are much nicer! :) We got to the hospital around 10am, my contractions were getting more intense, but I still wasn't dilating. This went on all morning. Baby's heart rate started dropping, so they did an emergency c-section. The cord was wrapped around his neck so he wasn't able to drop, hence the reason why I wasn't dilating. Parker was born at 4:44pm, on his due date. He came right on time.

Here is Parker at about 5 weeks old. This was my FAVORITE outfit of his:

Parker was such a relaxed baby:

  1. UHHH..... NO, NO, NO!!!! If Parker is 3, that means I'm REALLY old. =) I can't believe it. I've been wondering why you weren't dilating,I don't think we ever had a conversation about it. I'm so very glad you ended up with the midwife you had, though. Anyway. Happy birthday Parker... you are getting so big. Love you guys.

  2. so cute. In his "gap" pics, he looks a ton like preston there! Very very cute. He's starting to loose his cute baby fat and starting to look like such a big boy! What are you guys going to do for his birthday? I bet he's excited! I can't believe you have 3kids under 3. You're amazing! I almost have 4, but my oldest will be almost 8 when number 4 arrives! ;)
