on what to do when your child is mean to your other child? I don't know what is worse. 1. The older child picking on the younger child. Or 2. The younger child picking on the older child. It's pretty crazy when I have to deal with this..and my children are under the age of 3! And, when it's the YOUNGER child picking on the older one! I just don't know what to do with Preston. Constantly, all day long, all I hear is, "Preston, don't hit me! No Preston, No!" "Don't hit me Preston." "OOOWWW, Preston!" I look over and Preston is hitting Parker on the head with a car, a ball, a spoon, a paint can, ect. ALL DAY LONG! What do I do? I have tried time out with Preston, but he JUST turned one. I tell him to tell Parker he is sorry, and to give Parker a kiss, and he gives Parker a kiss. Errgg...it is so stinkin frustrating! I was trying to cook dinner earlier, and Preston was hitting Parker, Parker was crying and getting frustrated, so I asked Parker if he wanted to go into his room by himself and play, but he would have to shut the door. He thought that was a great idea, and went running into his room. (Which is a huge improvement, he used to NEVER entertain himself.) No sooner do I shut the door, Preston comes running down the hall crying because he wants in the room. He is screaming, loudly, but I keep my promise to Parker and let him play by himself in his room. Preston continues to scream and I go about making dinner. (Hey, at least they aren't fighting!) Then, , Parker opens the door to his room, and says, "Come on Preston. Come play with me." It, to me, was one of the sweetest things I have ever heard. Maybe it's because I am pregnant, maybe it's because if I was in the same situation, I would have made sure the door was locked, but it was just so sweet and forgiving on Parker's part. I just love both my boys so much! :)
make a VERY good combination! :) We got a dozen assorted donuts last night, oh my! So yummy, and so not good for you! Oh well, the boys LOVED them, and look how cute they are in their official hats!
I had a Dr.'s appointment today at 9:20. Ben just asked me how it went. Well, it was a 9:20, and I was finished and getting into the van at 9:17. How is that for being fast? Yes, I did see the Dr, long enough to hear the baby's heart beat, and be measured. I am exactly measuring 22 weeks. Perfect!
Here are the HIGHLY anticipated belly shots! :)
I apsolutely HATE getting my pictures taken. I always feel so cheesy, as you can see! I'm lookin pretty cheesy right now. But, I feel so guilty for not having enough prego pictures when all is said and done.
I need to finish making dinner. I'm making pizza, with the best ever thin crust. So yummy, and extremely easy! It seems like a LONG recipe, but really, it takes only a minute to make! Enjoy!
Thin Crust Pizza
1 1/2 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup warm (110 degree) tap water 2 teaspoons active dry yeast 4 tablespoons olive oil One 12-inch round pizza pan
*Note: If you double this recipe to make two pizzas, do not double the quantity of yeast.
Place the flour and salt in a 2-quart mixing bowl and stir well to mix; make a well in the center.
Measure the water and pour it into a small bowl. Sprinkle the yeast on the surface of the water and leave it to soften 3 or 4 minutes. Whisk the yeast and water together then whisk in 1 tablespoon of the oil.
Pour the liquid mixture to the well into the flour and stir with a rubber spatula to form a soft, sticky dough. Turn the dough out on a floured work surface. Knead the dough gently, folding it over on itself, and scraping it off the surface with a spatula or plastic scraper if it is very sticky. Avoid adding more flour to the dough -- that will produce a tough pizza. Knead for about 5 minutes, until the dough is smooth and no longer so sticky.
Rinse and dry the bowl. Spread 1 tablespoon oil all around the inside of the bowl. Form the dough into a ball and place in the bowl. Turn the ball upside down, so that the top surface of the dough is oiled, and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Allow dough to rise at room temperature about 1 hour, or until doubled in bulk. For advance preparation, cover and refrigerate the dough several hours or even overnight.
To form the pizza crust, generously flour the work surface. Flour your hand and scrape the dough from the bowl in one piece, without stretching or folding it. Place the dough on the floured work surface so that what was on top in the bowl is now underneath.
Scatter a tablespoon or so of flour over the dough and press down on it with the palm of the hand. Be careful to keep the dough an even disk shape. If the dough is freshly made, it may resist slightly. Should that happen, cover it with plastic wrap and allow it to rest for about 5 minutes, then resume the process. If the dough has been rested for a long time either in the refrigerator or at room temperature, it will respond easily.
Form your right hand into a fist and begin to press the dough in a circle, about 1/2-inch in from the edge of the dough, with the middle joints of your fingers (as though knocking on a door). Pull gently with your other hand on the edge of the dough, opposite where the dough is being pressed. Continue around the crust two or three times in this manner to flatten and widen it. For a rectangular crust, press and pull the dough into a rectangular shape -- use a rolling pin of the dough resists. Pour the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil onto a round or rectangular pizza pan and spread it with the palm of one hand. Fold the crust in half and transfer it to the oiled pan. Unfold the dough and press it into place in the pan with the palms of both hands, gently stretching from the center outward. If the dough resists, cover with plastic wrap and allow it to rest for about 5 minutes, then resume the process.
When the dough is properly stretched, it should be about 1/8-inch thick and have a 1/2-inch wide border which is slightly thicker.
Set racks at the lowest and highest levels of the oven and preheat to 450 degrees.
Top the pizza with your favorite toppings.Bake the pizza on the bottom rack of the oven for about 30 minutes. After about 10 minutes, lift an end of the pizza with a metal spatula to check that the bottom is not burning. If the bottom is coloring too quickly, slide another pan under the first one. If the bottom is light golden, check again after another 10 minutes. When the pizza is done, the top should be sizzling gently, and the bottom a dark brown. If the top has not colored sufficiently when the bottom is done, place pizza on top rack of the oven for an additional 5 minutes
Since I have been on "vacation" for the past 6 weeks (ie. the girls have been here) I think I am back to the blogging world. We shall see, I can't make any promises! Today has been a crazy day! My in-laws took the boys last night so I could go to church and not have to worry about teaching my class and watching Preston. Ben has been off for the past 6 sundays, and the girls have been here the past 6 sundays, so today would have been the first day back after 6 weeks without ANY help at all. I am so grateful for the help that I do have from family. :) Today I was released from my calling as Sunbeam teacher. I never thought I would be so sad about not teaching the Sunbeams. I mean, come on! Who really likes to teach 3 year olds? I have really grown to love each one of those children, and I really am going to miss them. But, just because I was released from one calling, doesn't mean I get to go back to Relief Society and have a break. Nope, not here in the Bayside Ward! :) I have been called to be the 1st councelor in the Primary Presidency. I really feel inadequate right now, and hope that I will do a good job. Alright, enough of my babbling on! Here are some pictures of this summer. I really haven't taken as many as I had hoped, but, we have been too stinkin busy to remember a camera!
Peach picking @ Knott's Island, NC .......YUMMY!!
My beach baby:
I have NO belly shot's of me, but, I am excited about how DARK and how LONG my hair is getting! :)
Alright, I think I will go and enjoy the rest of my evening. Oh, I didn't say, Parker and Preston were supposed to come home this afternoon, but Preston got sick today, has been throwing up, and went to sleep around 6:30, before Donna could bring him home. So it looks like I'll be without kids for another night! .....I do miss them, though. Kinda bittersweet!
It has been so much fun having Emily (and Maura) here this summer. They leave tomorrow, and I am really not looking forward to these next few days. I miss them already! :) Thank you, Peggy and Russ, for sharing your daughters with us!
Now that everybody knows my good news (and if you haven't read the previous post and have no idea what I am talking about, go read it NOW!), I figured I could let you know my stats.
1.I am officially 20 1/2 weeks along. That makes me almost halfway done! :) 2. My due date is November 23rd, but because it will be a scheduled c-section, I will have her after the 10th and before the 23rd. 3. I did get sick a little bit, felt completely exhausted a lot, and am over most of that now. 4. I have been craving french fries, but that is about it! YUMMY! Probably not a good thing to crave. With Parker and Preston, I craved fresh, crisp, veggies and salad. 5. I am not sure if we are going with a "P" name or not. If we do, it might be kinda like a tongue twister naming off all of my children. Any suggestions to names are welcome. Ben and I can't agree on anything at this point. 6. Ben and I are REALLY really excited to be having another baby. Especially a GIRL! Now, we can get all the pink and frilly and lacy things I have always wanted! Yeah! :) 7. Here is how I would LOVE to do the nursery. But not quite practical. You REALLY don't need it all, especially when the bedding is JUST $249.00. But isn't it adorable? 8. I went the most adorable maternity boutique. They had Shade maternity shirts..I was so stoked! Today, I got a card in the mail from them thanking me for shopping there. How cute is that?
