It's pretty neat that we take the boys to the same barbershop that Ben and his dad have been going to for years.

A white {day after} Christmas

The snow started falling yesterday evening, and I don't think it has stopped! It has turned out to be a white Christmas, which I think is a first for the Lineberry's! Ben has to work today, so I ended up staying out here with my in-laws so we can be snowed in with them. Thank goodness I did, we literally are snowed in! I'm hoping that Ben will be able to make it home tomorrow, but the last time I talked to him he mentioned just staying close to the fire station since he'll have to work on Tuesday. We'll see.

Two days before Christmas, Ester bought some sleds. Hopefully we'll get to use them. Too bad we left all our warm clothes at our house!



What do you do when it snows? Well, first thing in our house....we make SNOW CONES!!!!

holiday {baking}

Last night I went to my mother-in-laws to bake up some holiday treats for our friends and neighbors. She has a convection oven, which makes baking a snap! Otherwise, instead of the 4 1/2 hours we spent baking, it would have been at least 8 hours! It's so nice being able to make up 5 trays of cookie dough, and being able to bake them all at once! But, with that being said, I feel like I have been ran over by a train this morning! I am extremely exhausted! Who would have thought?

sledding

We've had 2 snow days in one week! In order to take full advantage of a 2nd snowfall, Ben took the boys to a "top secret" sledding hill with his buddy, Brett. It may be freezing outside, but when the boys came home, there was no complaining on their part. They loved it. And, if we get another snowfall, we know where to take them!

*The "hill" is, in fact, just a road. But, living here in Va Beach, we don't have very many hills to slide down. Actually, we don't have any hills to slide down. {unless you count the overpasses.}

*There may not be a lot of snow, but we take what we can get! This was a pretty good snowfall for one afternoon!

*If we don't have sleds, we improvise.....with boogie boards. When the Preston was talking about sledding today, he said, "We can ride on our boogie boards and go real fast!" And Parker had to ask me, "Mom, what is the thing we slide down the hill with? Oh yeah, sleds."

....well, sort of. We like to use graham crackers instead. They are the perfect size for the kids, and I don't have to bake anything and they are pretty cheap! :)

Can I just say where I am lacking, Ben more than makes up for it: patience. I have little to no patience whatsoever when it comes to tedious projects. I would probably end up smashing these little houses to pieces before we even get the candy on them! But, like I said, since Ben has the patience, he is the one in charge of constructing the houses.

I bought this chocolate mold set on sale after Christmas last year. These were a cute/fun addition to our houses.

Who wouldn't love a little icing squeezed directly into the mouth? Huh? I even put peppermint extract in the icing.....it was actually kinda yummy!

Robin ended up coming over to hang out. Her daughter was able to make a house, too!

Each year Papaw comes over and helps us out. I'm glad we've started this tradition!

When we were finishing up, Parker started grabbing just plain graham crackers and constructed his own "house." He is very proud of it, as am I. The kids had a lot of fun: decorating and eating the decorations! Isn't that what it's all about?


One thing I love about the Christmas season is all the traditions that we have. It makes this time of year even more special--being able to spend time with the ones we love!

We're working on getting the girls' room finished {seriously? I'm going to have more than one girl?}

And, we need to start going through baby clothes and getting diapers and find the swing.....

We woke up this morning to some snow flurries. We didn't think it would actually stick, but to our surprise, it did! And, as I am typing, it is still snowing outside. This is very rare for Virginia Beach--we normally don't get any snow until January.

Ben took the kids outside to play. They loved it. Like I said, it doesn't happen very often, and to have the chance to play in it is a special treat! There was even enough snow to make a snowman.
