The big 3-1!!

Ben had to work on his birthday. And I had to run kids around on his birthday. Which makes for a very low key birthday celebration! Sorry, hun! :)

Right after the kids got home from school, we headed over to the firestation to spend at least of few minutes with him!

We made him the awesome candy card.

This girl LOVES her dad!

We got him some cards. The boys wrote their own names. And Paisley wrote a “P”. They were very proud!

We played on the fire truck.

We dressed up as firemen.

We ate a birthday cookie!

And we drove home just in time to hit rush hour traffic!

When Ben got home the next day, we had plans to go out for dinner with his parents and I made him a carrot cake. Parleigh put a little damper on our plans; I ended up taking her to the Children’s Hospital ER….was there for 5 hours, and missed out on his birthday dinner AND eating cake! Annnd, Ben had to finish frosting his cake…I had big plans, too! :)

Parker was in charge of the camera. He forgot the memo telling him to make sure his father didn’t act like  goober for all the pictures!

Well, Ben. I sure do love you! How lucky are we to have you in our lives?

I finally figured it out!

I will admit…I’m a little slow at a TON of things! But I think I figured out how to post videos on my blog? {And before you make some smart remark—cause you know you want to, keep in mind it’s more complicated than that!! And instead of boring you of why exactly, I’m going to leave it at that! That’s how I roll!}

Here’s Parleigh’s favorite thing to do right now. She loves to to take the cushion off of the rocking chair and rock. She loves it even more if she hits the wall every time she rocks! Little booger! And please don’t mind my horrible videoing! Seriously. Now that I know that I can post videos…I’ll work on my mad videography skills!

Arrgghhh Maties!

I hope we aren’t the only ones who took full advantage of National Talk Like a Pirate Day. My sister {she’s way cooler than me!!} called me up and told me that Krispy Kreme was giving away free donuts if you went in and “talked like a pirate.” You also got a dozen donuts if you dressed like a pirate! Apparently, we weren’t pirate-y enough…but we sure did have fun! And the kids enjoyed their free donut!

Crabfest

One advantage of living by the Chesapeake Bay—these beauties. Blue crabs. Aren’t they pretty? Don’t you just love their “blueness”!

IMG_9071

Another advantage of is having an amazing father-in-law who will sit and spray out all the guts so we don’t have to “pick” through them when we eat them! AWESOME!!

IMG_9073

Since Ben was working, Parker was Papaw’s helper! I take that back. regardless if Ben was working or not, Parker would be Papaw’s helper. How often do you get to play with crabs?

IMG_9068 (2)

And these crabs were HUGE! I’m pretty sure they are the biggest blue crabs we’ve ever seen.

IMG_9077 (2)

Not only did we eat crabs, but we had fried flounder, too! Yum!

Do you like all those turkey fans? They don’t call Benjie Turkeyman for no reason!

The crabs are even pretty when they are cooked!!

Can you believe all that food? It was awesome!

It was such a fun evening. Great food. And good people! Love it!
