Things are starting to fall into a routine. It’s taken a while, but I think, for now, I have our schedule figured out. I’m sure that will change the instant I post this. I’m okay with that. Frankly, I’m used to that. I find it amusing when new moms say that they have their baby on a schedule. Little do they know, things happen to disrupt that schedule. Any little thing: teething, growing pains, vacation, running errands. And soon, everything is thrown for a loop. I can admit though, pretty much for the past 5 1/2 years we’ve had the same routine for our children. It is constantly “shifting” rather than changing. Give or take a couple hours. Same thing, just different day!
Since Parker’s started school I haven’t seemed to be able to get into the swing of things. After 4 months, you would think it’s about time!
It feels good though. For the time being. I like our little schedule. I like our routine. And, for now, it’s working.
We had some major changes in the past couple of weeks.
*First up? I got a cell phone! Shocker, right? I have finally crossed over to the dark side. To make the transition easier, and since we’ve had the same phone number for the past 8 years, and the thought of giving that up would cause me to have an anxiety attack every time I thought about it…we transferred our home number over to the cell, and got rid of our home phone.
*We also got rid of cable TV. We don’t really watch TV anyway. Or rather, I don’t. The kids watch their kids shows. And probably too much. Today was the first TV free day, and they handled it rather well. To make matters worse, Parleigh broke our DVD player, don’t ask me how. But, since she can’t defend herself, we’ll just blame it on her! So, really. Today was NO TV day. We’ll see if I’m still surviving tomorrow!
*I’ve started running. Not too exciting. But, for me—it’s a huge accomplishment. I’ve always hated running. Like, hate as in liver and onions and cooked spinach with vinegar and eggs on it== hate. Maybe because I’ve never been good at it. Not that I only do things that I’m good at, just…you either can run or you can’t. And I can’t. Or couldn’t. I’d always be out of breath. After a minute. So, you know I ran the 5k on New Year’s eve. Then I hurt my foot. But now, my foot’s better. And I’ve been trying to put miles in. Andd……I’m training to run a half-marathon in April. I’m nervous, but it is ONLY 13.1 miles. ONLY! I went out running with the boys the other morning—they rode their bikes and I jogged. It felt really good. And it was fun. FUN? Seriously? I enjoyed it? Now I want to get a double jogging stroller. Anyone know what’s good and affordable? Happy Birthday to me! :) Hint Hint!
*Paisley is potty-trained. Hip Hip HOORAY! Nothing is cuter than seeing her climb up on the potty all.by.herself. Such a big girl!
*I’ve made bread this week. 3 times. No joke. We eat a lot of bread. I make two loaves every other day, and we go through it pretty fast. For the time being, we aren’t going to be buying bread. Homemade, baby!
*Speaking of making things. I made hummus. Another thing I’ve been “terrified” to try. And I did it. And it turned out yummy. Can I have a gold star? Anyone? Anyone? :)

The kids were invited to a birthday party yesterday. They were half of the party. I’m no kidding! It was at Build-A-Bear Workshop. And I gotta tell you. They loved it! I was fine until I got a migraine. And tried to hide the fact that I really couldn’t see anything because of my “aura” and I couldn’t focus and my head was pounding. Could it be because we were at a 6 year old’s birthday party at the mall on a Saturday afternoon? Most likely!
The kids took a ride on the carousel to get things started off.
And then they headed to the Build-A-Bear Workshop!
They first had to learn the rules. {Rule 1? Have fun!} There’s the birthday girl with her crown on!
Parleigh was NOT happy. At all. She didn’t want to be in the stroller. Or for me to hold her. Or for anybody to hold her. Or to be on the ground. Maybe that’s why I got a migraine!
After they picked out their “skins, they got further instructions about the bear’s “heart”.
Each bear get’s a heart before it’s stuffed.
And each of the party guests put a heart in the birthday girl’s bear! Too cute! Here they are giving the birthday girl some “love”.
The boys picked out matching dogs. Should we be surprised they are matching?
Paisley’s bear being stuffed. It’s pink. Surprised?
Then they gave their animals a bath, and picked out an outfit!
Here’s the cake. Cute, right?
Since I haven’t posted enough pictures, here’s two more for good measure. Happy Sunday, ya’ll!
Those are great accomplishments! I have wanted to turn off the tv for a while- well ours is turned off as far as tv goes but Reag and I get into the habit of watching a movie a day and I dont want to. I also want to start making bread if I find a good recipe- maybe you will have to email me yours. I want to find a whole wheat one that is fluffy not so dense ya know? I would run if we weren't PREGNANT! I always think of you and how you had your kids close and you are fine when I get nervous :)
ReplyDeleteYou get TWENTY-FIVE stars, my dear!!! You are AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteI am determined to get back to pre-preg weight by this summer...regardless of if I go to our class reunion. LOL! I've been spinning 75 mi a week since august and doing jillian's shred every day for two weeks and haven't lost a single pound. >:(
I had a double jogger for a while, but finally sold it. I HATE running...I always thought you loved it!!! I only joined track cause you said you'd do it, too. LOL!
And way to go on bread! Do share your recipe!!! I've been slacking off for a while...
I thought about posting my bread...but, it took so long to raise (like 7 hours) that it doesn't really look blog worthy. Now, the taste, Chad said that is was as good or better than mine...I couldn't really tell, because of the cold you know. When I make it again, and it turns out, I'll post.
