We cooked. Visited. Talked. Shopped. Played games. Went to the Hot Pots. Ate at Café Rio. SO. Much. Fun!
Now. I have a ton of pictures. And I haven’t even gotten to the pictures that my sweet friend, Deanna, took of all of us at the temple. Deanna, you ROCK! {Can I just say that I am so grateful for good friends? I was thinking back to when I met Deanna, and we weren’t really friends. Not until a couple of years ago. But, I really wish we would have been. Cause she is amazing. And fun! And sweet! And she rocks at pretty much anything she does! Love you, girl!}
3 seats all to ourselves to Atlanta? Yes please!
2 seats all to ourselves from Atlanta to Salt Lake? Yes please!
{So, who forgets to pack an extra set of clothes for a 7 month old on a cross country flight? Apparently this girl! Oh well. Who doesn’t love a naked baby?}
I was greeted by my sister, Beth, when I got off the plane. Within the next 30 minutes, my sisters Peggy and Marie also flew in! Let the party begin!Here is a random picture. We were headed north on I-15 when we hit traffic. In the middle of nowhere? Seriously? Well, I guess it makes sense. Check it out. Ouch!
We prepared all the food on Thursday {it literally took all day} and then got ready early on Friday for my Mom’s wedding at 11:00. Like I said before, I need to go through the pictures from the wedding. But, I have plenty of pictures from the Open House!
Even though we were completely exhausted…who can pass up a game of Trivial Pursuit?
Saturday, everyone helped clean up. While I sat around and did nothing. No joke. I don’t think I helped at all. I was so stinkin exhausted, I just sat around in my pj’s thinking that I should help, but that was the extent of it! We did end up getting dressed and Beth and I went shopping. To Downeast Basics, Sierra’s {a craft store}, Café Rio for dinner, and then Fred Meyers. Can I just say: I was so close to calling Ben to convince him to move out west. I can do without Chic Fil A and Target…..these places were the BOMB!
Sunday morning I woke up early so I could go to Chesterfield for church. If you don’t know, Chesterfield is where I grew up and it holds a special place in my heart. The people there are the kindest, sweetest people on the face of the planet. No joke! I love going “home” and being greeted by all the kind faces and warm hearts. I was invited over to my friend Deanna’s parents house for dinner. I enjoyed it so much. They are so wonderful. And then I drove around the valley to get a few pictures. Gosh, I miss this place!

{I always tell people that I lived on a road that was 3 miles long with only 4 houses on it. There was a house right across the street from me. There were a house right next to the church that was 1 mile to the west of us. There was another house 1 mile to the east of us with another mile to the next intersection. Here is proof of that. This is the road I grew up on: the picture was taken when I left the church. You can see our house in the distance.}
{The house I grew up in. My, how things have changed!}
{As I was driving down this road, I realized it’s been a LONG time since I’ve driven down a dirt road!}
The next pictures are from the Chesterfield Town site. I used to come up here a lot when I was a youth {actually, I’d even ride my bike here! It was a LONG ways!} I’d go there to think and enjoy the peacefulness.
{There used to be a swing on this tree---but apparently they cut it down. This was my favorite place to go!}
{I grew up on Stalker Road}
{I couldn’t leave without stopping in to see Brother George. I love him to pieces. He makes and sell Cowboy Boots By George. But that’s not why I love him. He had faith in me. And treated me like I was a somebody. And made me want to grow up to be somebody I could be proud of. I love you, George!}
The conversation came up this past week {twice actually} about my car wreck I was in my Junior year of high school. Apparently it was bad enough that they redid the bridge to make it so that no one else would drive off of it.
2 months before I graduated High School, my parents moved to a new home in the canyon that was by the river.

Monday morning we watched the sunrise over the mountains on our way to the airport.
And then I watched the sunset in Detroit. What a long day. A short trip. And a lot of memories.{Oh, and Beth? You are a rock star! Thanks for letting us crash at your house, mess up your kitchen. And…thanks for remodeling your house for us! How amazing are you?}
We totally should have been better friends in HS...woulda' kept us outta some trouble!!! And it only took them 10 years to finish that bridge!!! LOL! Ahhh...Home. It's only taken me 10 years to call it that. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI emailed you the best pics that night, did you get them? And they're edited....please don't post any pics of me...or my double chin. LOL!
You were in Idaho and didn't tell me, and Chesterfield no less! Hopefully next time we'll be able to get together! Looks like you had fun!
ReplyDeleteso glad you were able to go to Idaho and be there for your mom!! Happy to hear you had a great weekend
ReplyDeleteLooks a little like Utah. Thank you George for having faith in Kate. She is a good friend of my daughter's, a good member of the church, a great mother and wife and a daughter of God.
ReplyDeleteLoved loved loved this post! Made me homesick! So fun seeing the pictures of where you grew up! We had VERY similar upbringings! No wonder we get along so well! :) I think my favorite picture was the one with all the sagebrush! :) Love, Robin
