I called my mom this evening. It was probably a big mistake. Not the calling her part, but the timing part. I had just gotten the kids in the bathtub, and was thinking I had a few minutes to spare to have some adult conversation. {I'm sure you can relate.} There is some sort of unwritten law {or maybe it is written and I haven't bookmarked it yet} of the universe that states, "The moment you start talking on the phone, it doesn't matter if your children are quietly playing in the other room, they will want your attention, and they will want it now. And, they will try anything and everything to get it!" So, Mom, I apologize. I apologize for the loud screaming. I apologize for the crying. I apologize for the sound of the bath water running mixed with the screaming and crying. I apologize for you having to repeat what we were talking about because I lost my train of thought. I apologize for you having to repeat what we were talking about because I lost my train of thought. I apologize for the abrupt, "Yeah, I should probably let you go and talk to you later...bye....click." But, you know what, I know you understand because you have been there before. And I know it wasn't a problem for you. And I know it was so good to talk to you and I realize how much I wish we lived closer. {But you are probably glad we live far apart...with my crazy hooligans!}
Ahhh....the end of the evening craziness. We have the same routine. The same routine we have had for the past 3 1/2 years. Dinner. Baths. Dressed. Books. Scriptures. Prayer. Brush teeth. Bed. Every night. The same thing. So, you would think after so. many. nights. of the same thing, they would be used to it, maybe a little. Nope. They get pretty wound up. But, tonight, I got them in bed before 8pm and they went right out!
These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago when Emily came out to visit. The boys were especially wound up because we were getting ready for some birthday cake. Ben gave them baths {yes, he is pretty much the awesomest husband ever} and then made their hair SPIKEY! They like it spikey!

Yes, you do have a great husband. And, your children aren't just cute, they are beautiful!! You are very blessed.
