This year I didn’t want to “throw” a birthday party for Preston. Instead, I decided we would do a few “little” things, and hopefully it would add up and make up for not having a “big” party. I think it worked, and we had a lot of fun this past week!
It started on Wednesday when Preston had his Kindergarten shots! He’s been SOOO excited for them for the past year {no joke} and would do the happy dance every day we got closer to the date! Ben was planning on taking him, but Tuesday night when I was laying him down for bed, he requested that I take him….and I couldn’t deny my sweet little boy!
He did SO good! And when he got his shots, that boy didn’t even flinch! The nurses were extremely impressed! Here he is moments after the shot. Calm, and ready to go eat and pick out a toy!
He originally wanted to go to Taco Bell for lunch, but I convinced him otherwise. We settled on Olive Garden. He felt so grown up eating out with Mom! It was such a fun lunch date!
We then went to Toys R Us and he was able to pick out any toy he wanted. {The main reason he’s been super excited to get his shots! Hey, whatever works!}
I was also able to swing by the fabric store so I could finish his birthday gift: a new blanket. I had forgotten I had promised I would make him one for his birthday. {and that was back in January!} He reminded me last week! Surprisingly enough, I was able to finish the blanket. Thank goodness for rainy days! :)
On Preston’s actual birthday {if you haven’t noticed yet, we tend to s-t-r-e-t-c-h out the celebrating just a bit!} Ben brought home birthday donuts!
Yumm! There’s nothing like fresh, hot Krispy Kreme donuts! :)
Although it was overcast and chilly, we headed to the waterpark. By the time we got there the sun was shining and we were able to have a picnic and sing happy birthday to him.
{Parleigh’s poor hair! Oops. We left the house looking like hooligans! Oh well!}
The water was chilly, so we didn’t stay long. {It’s okay, we’ve already gone 4 times this past week!} We got the kids home and they played outside in the sprinkler—we are so glad summer is here!
As if that isn’t enough, this evening Donna, Benji, and Ester came over to wish Preston happy birthday. Preston is so excited to play with his new toys! {And so is Parker!}
My little Preston. So grown up! We’ve had a fun week celebrating him! I wish we had more summer birthdays!
Such a cute little boy! He did so well with his shots! Impressive! Loved all the "things" you did to celebrate his special day(s)! I think that's almost better than a party! The birthday just keeps going! Love it! ♥
ReplyDeleteHe takes his shots like me! I'm not one bit afraid of the needles. Love that kid! You are such a good mom to do all that fun stuff. He'll never forget it. Looks like Mamaw delivered as usual! haha! Oh, and the Taco Bell thing cracked me up!
