the {last} hoorah!

I honestly can't believe that Pam has moved! It probably won't sink in until about midweek that I will realize we haven't hung out, and the boys are asking to see Mimi, and I want to run to Michaels and want someone to tag along, and I want to just get out of the house, and I have made too much dinner/cookies and need to share them with somebody: then I will realize that Pam has moved clear across the country and that I'm really going to miss her!

Pam is only 2 1/2 years older than me. We grew up sharing a room together at different times. We never really fought with each come to think of it. I was a freshman when she was a senior. The summers after my Sophomore year and Junior year we both went up to Alaska to work. When she went to college, she was only an hour away. My Senior year of high school, she moved back home before attending boot camp. She took stats for volleyball--which meant she came to every game. She was the "official" videographer (sp?) for basketball--which meant she came to every game. She left for boot camp right before graduation, but I moved out to Virginia and she was in South Carolina and Peggy and the kids and I went and saw her for her birthday in August, and then she came up for Labor Day. She also flew out during Christmastime, and came to my wedding in June. She then moved up to New York, but I saw her around Halloween, and then she was stationed in Norfolk--and moved in with Ben and I not even a month after we bought our house in January. She lived with us whenever she wasn't deployed until she and Matt bought their house almost 1 1/2 later. Pam has lived 1 1/2 miles away from me for the past 4 1/2 years. Now, we will be 2,723 miles away from each other. There were times that she drove me crazy, and even more times that I drove her crazy. I honestly can't believe she is really gone!

Okay. Enough ranting. At least you got a feel for our "history".

Pam, Kristen, and I went out for a last "hoorah" on Friday night. We started with sushi {my first time and Pam's favorite} and then gelato, and then 4 rounds of bowling. I can honestly say I laughed and smiled so much my cheekbones hurt, and bowled so much my wrist muscles hurt!

  1. did I guilt you into posting? It was a great synopsis of your history. And I'm jealous you had a sib so close for so long. Now maybe you should think about moving out here....
